Immigration has been a powerful driver of Germany’s population growth. Under the impact of the COVID-19-pandemic,the number of immigrants in Germany has drastically reduced. During the pandemic, the Germen government has repeatedly extended the time of lockdown, trying to strike a balance between strict government control and the democratic demands of the people. Influenced by the epidemic and the epidemic control policies, the living conditions of immigrants are very unstable, especially in housing resettlement, education and training, and employment. The gap between immigrants and local residents has further widened. Refugees and asylum seekers in the pandemic are marginalized and bear a greater risk of infection. The success of integration that Germany has achieved over the years has been greatly damaged. Given that the prospect of the epidemic has not yet been clear, the immigration policy of Germany in the future period of time will probably shift from the perspective of economic interests to the perspective of national and social security, and the screening of immigration policy will be strengthened.
