Due to the profound impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020,Switzerland strengthened border controls and the mobility of immigrants decreased. Accordingly, the number of immigrants has decreased, and the number of applications for asylum has also dropped significantly. Refugees and immigrants, particular undocumented immigrants, are fragile groups and are easily affected by the epidemic. They have to deal with health, education, economic and other problems, and also suffer from certain discrimination. However, many immigrants in difficulty are willing to help others and contribute to society. In 2020,the Swiss People’s Party (SVP) proposed a referendum about immigration, which shows that the topic of immigration has received general attention in the public and is becoming politicized.
