With the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020,Spain has become one of the most affected European countries. The border blockade has caused a sharp decline in the number of immigrants, but the number of refugee cayucos arriving on the Spanish coast has increased, and the number of refugees has increased by 29% compared to 2019,which is mainly due to the relaunch from the Atlantic route to the Canary Islands. The pandemic and the arrival of large numbers of refugees have brought the refugee reception system to the brink of collapse, leaving many of them extremely vulnerable. On the other hand, the impact of the pandemic on groups of foreign immigrants is much more serious than on indigenous people. The main reason is that immigrants occupy a large proportion of the informal economy and the sectors most affected by the crisis. The sectors most affected are agriculture and the service industry.
