Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic at the end of January 2020,Japan has experienced the first wave in April, the second wave in August and the third wave of the epidemic in November. To curb its spread, the Japanese government has taken a series of measures such as putting on restriction on economic activities, opening hour of shops and people’s travel. But the COVID-19 has still caused about 20000 people infected and more than 3000 dead in Japan, with the impact on Japanese society in 2020 very extensive and far-reaching. The unemployment population has grown, with people’s income reducing and relative poverty rising. On the other hand, the COVID-19 has also promoted the development of telecommuting, online education and online application for job. There are changes of Japanese lifestyle, work style, learning style, and ways of communication. The trend of “Tokyo polarization” is also facing some uncertain factors.
