In the 2020 municipal elections and the partial re-election of the Senate, the French political party structure—the quad-pilar parties with slightly predominant middle party —remains the same, but its political power and party relations have undergone major changes. La Répubique en Marche has weakened, being a minority in the Senate and a relatively majority in the National Assembly;the European Eco-Green Party has risen rapidly, setting off a “green wave” in French politics;the two major traditional parties, the Republican Party and the Socialist Party, have basically maintained their original positions, although weakened to varying degrees;the ultra-right party National Rally has not made a breakthrough. After the municipal elections and the partial re-election of the Senate, major political parties in France continued to restructure their organizations, formulate new programs and strategies, and hold high the banners of “environmental protection, ecology, energy transition” and “caring for people’s livelihood” in order to win the hearts of the people. They are regrouping, trying all kinds of coalitions and alliances, and are actively preparing for the 2021 regional and provincial assembly elections and the 2022 presidential elections.
