In 2020，the epidemic ravaged the world，but Turkmenistan is one of the few countries in the world with “zero diagnosis”. Under the background of the double superposition of the worldwide epidemic and the changing situation in the century，the Turkmenistan authorities have adopted active epidemic prevention policy with remarkable effect，and the domestic political situation is basically stable. The increase in public expenditure caused by the epidemic and the precipitous drop in international energy prices at the beginning of the year have put greater pressure on national economic growth of Turkmenistan. Domestic security is generally controllable. In early 2020，the United States and the Taliban signed a unilateral peace agreement，which further complicates the security situation in Central Asia. Violent and terrorist forces，including the Islamic State，threatened to establish “Khorasan Province”，and Turkmenistan’s domestic security periphery is getting tense. 2020 is the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan becoming a “neutral state”. Becoming an observer of the WTO was also a highlight of Turkmenistan’s diplomacy throughout the year.
