The China-Japan-Korea FTA plays a prominent role in promoting close economic and trade cooperation among East Asian countries. After the successful signing of the RCEP with the participation of 15 countries at the end of 2020,the China-Japan-Korea FTA negotiations ushered in a new stage. RCEP fills the gap where there is no FTA between China,Japan and South Korea, and at the same time lays a good foundation for China,Japan and South Korea FTA in terms of tariff reduction and market access. In the next step, the China-Japan-Korea FTA negotiations may involve more “post-border rules” issues. At the same time, they will face the greater impact of Japan-Korea trade frictions. Opportunities contain challenges. China,Japan and South Korea should take advantage of the excellent situation reached by RCEP and make persistent efforts to promote the early conclusion of the China-Japan-Korea FTA negotiations and promote the development of East Asian regional economic integration to high-quality.
