The outbreak of the Syrian Civil War and the rise of the “Islamic State” have intensified the internal division of international terrorist forces，forcing al Qaeda to make three strategic responses：“develop the network”，“reshape authority” and “improve the image”. The development and evolution of the “Support Front” embodies the strategic considerations of al Qaeda in Syria，specifically：using the Syrian Civil War to strengthen the idea of overthrowing secular political rule and implementing the “Islamic Governance” model by means of violent revolution；taking advantages of Syria's fragile political process to integrate the Syrian opposition groups with a view to accelerating the localization process and expanding the transnational network，and re-establishing the authority of al Qaeda to the global “jihad” Salafi movement. In order to achieve the long-term goal of al Qaeda in Syria，the “Support Front” announced its separation from al Qaeda in July 2016 and changed its name to “Conquering the Sharm Front”，and six months later merged with the opposition groups and formed the “Liberating Sharm Organization”. All this highlights al Qaeda's attempt to undermine the Syrian peace process，evade international an-terrorism attacks，and reshape its authority.
