Starting with Westra’s criticism to Curtius，the paper summarizes Curtius’ various contributions to the studies of contemporary French Literature，and then points out many misunderstandings to Curtius’ Medieval studies，highlighting their significance and value. According to the author，reading Curtius can help us to grasp the functioning and the beauty of the text and also let us know how to pass on the torch of culture.
