As the second general election held after the military coup in 2006,Fiji and the international community attach great importance to 2018 Fiji general election. In order to ensure the smooth progress of the 2018 general election, the Fiji government has done a lot of preparatory work and successfully completed the general election under the supervision of the Multinational Observer Mission. Compared with the 2014 general election, not only is more diversified, but also the 2018 Fiji general election breaks through the framework of the 2013 Fiji Constitution. The number of candidates increased to 51,while the number of female candidates has soared. Due to the ruling Fijifirst Party win again, the influence of the 2018 general election on Fiji’s domestic politics and diplomacy has two sides, and the impact on China-Fiji relations needs to be carefully observed and dealt with.
