在中日两国就推动构建契合新时代要求的中日关系达成重要共识的基础上，2020年开局的中日关系继续保持改善势头，中日政治互动密切。面临突如其来的新冠肺炎疫情，中日携手应对，守望相助。在中美贸易摩擦加剧和新冠肺炎疫情常态化背景下，日本对华政策继续调整，造成中日关系难以大幅改善、继续低迷。菅义伟内阁上台后，中日关系出现新动向，但两国关系依然面临不少挑战。在新的时代背景下，未来中日关系的良好发展需要双方增强互信，加强对话与合作，积极管控分歧，共同构建契合新时代要求的中日关系。
On the basis of the important consensus reached between China and Japan on promoting China-Japan relations in line with the requirements of the new era，the China-Japan relations in the beginning of 2020 continually maintained the momentum of improvement with close political interaction between the two countries. In the face of the COVID-19 outbreak，China and Japan worked hand in hand helped each other. In the context of intensified competition between China and the US and the normalisation of the COVID-19，Japan’s policy towards China began to adjust，causing a new downturn in China-Japan relations. Since the new cabinet of Yoshihide Suga took office，new developments have taken place in China-Japan relations，which still face many challenges. In the new era，the sound development of China-Japan relations in the future requires the two sides to enhance mutual trust，strengthen dialogue and cooperation，actively manage differences and jointly promote the building of China-Japan relations that meets the requirements of the new era.
