Australia and Japan have established a very close partnership and have continuously promoted their cooperation in various fields and directions. Economic cooperation is an important part of Australia-Japan relationship. Australia and Japan have their own characteristics in the economic field，forming distinct economic structure features of complementary advantages. In recent years，the economic cooperation between Australia and Japan has maintained steady development，expanding and deepening. Australia is one of Japan’s top 10 trading partners，and Japan is Australia’s second largest trading partner. With the development of unilateralism，trade protectionism and other anti globalization trends，free trade and multilateral trade system have been impacted. Australia and Japan actively strengthen the close cooperation under the regional economic cooperation framework and global multilateral trade system. While promoting regional integration and maintaining free trade，Australia and Japan pursue multiple rights and dominant position in the reconstruction of regional and global economic order.
