As the result of increasing urbanization and drastic rising of urban population in China,cities in China are bound to shoulder a greater responsibility for maintaining economic sustainability and social cohesion.The urban disease epidemic across China,no matter in mega-city metropolis or county-level cities are phenomenal.This article attempts to discuss livability as a civil concept and its relationship with current Chinese environmental challenges,makes preliminary analysis of the Chinese livability indicator indexes,and recommends a greater involvement of the Chinese environmental NGOs as a new approach to address the ecological foot prints of Chinese economy,and social cohesion and inclusiveness of its development.
