Starting from 2009,China's environmental protection organizations have been communicating with 29 IT companies on the heavy metal pollution of the industry. During this 1 year and 10 month process, several rounds of discussions have been provoked on whether client companies should be held responsible for the pollution along the supply chain, whether consumers should pay attention to the pollution of the production process,as well as the influence of consumption behavior. Currently,a new element has been added to the concept of green supply chain in China, that is,attention being given to the impact of the production process upon neighboring communities, the environment and the general public. Consumer participation helps to make the supply chain greener, and a green consumption campaign has since been quietly launched in China.
