澳门回归以来，博彩业一直保持强劲的增长。但2014年6月出现拐点，至今已持续下滑了19个月。内地反腐和经济放缓对澳门赌收下滑有影响，但这些不是主要原因。更重要的原因是澳门贵宾厅危机、银联卡监管、反洗黑钱、打击地下钱庄等。这些导因大部分不是澳门能控制的，短期内也看不到改变的趋势，因此可以说澳门的博彩业增长处于较低水平已成为澳门经济的常态。尽管目前的状态还没有使澳门的就业和政府财政出现问题，但澳门仍需要未雨绸缪，为长远可能出现的挑战制定对策。
Since Reunification，the gaming industry in Macao had been growing steadily strong. The growth stopped in June 2014 and 19 months of continuous negative growth in gaming revenue was witnessed. The anti-corruption campaign and economic deceleration in the Mainland are contributing factors，but are not the principal causes. More important causes are the operation crisis in VIP rooms，regulation of China UnionPay card transactions，measures against money laundering and underground banks，among others. Most of these causes are beyond the control of Macao，hence no significant change could be foreseen in the short term. It can be said that the lower level growth of Macao’s gaming revenue has become normal. Although the present situation has not yet created employment and fiscal problems，it is still necessary for Macao to plan ahead and to take measures to prepare for long-term challenges that may emerge.
