Indonesia is the largest country in Southeast Asia and also owns the largest population of overseas Chinese. After independence, its economic development has been gradually taken off and stabilized. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and President Joko Widodo have vigorously developed their economy, and their GDP has remained above 5%. Chinese family enterprises play an important role in the Indonesian economy. They can create more than 50% of Indonesia’s wealth with less than 5% of the Indonesian population. At the same time,on the one hand they are also affected by Indonesia’s politics;on the other hand Chinese family enterprises are facing the double challenges of the transformation and development of enterprises and succession. The findings of this paper are as followed:First, with the transformation of Indonesian economic and industrial development,Chinese enterprises have begun to adopt international development strategy. Second, facing the challenge of succession, they have gradually transformed from “family business” to “professional family.” Third, the development experience of Indonesian Chinese enterprises can be applied as a reference for China’s domestic family businesses to solve the dilemma of family businesses development in succession and inheritance. The last, connecting with one belt and one road development would provide an opportunity for Chinese business into international market.
